The separation of natural estrogens by countercurrent distribution.

چکیده
The development of fluorometric methods (l-4) for the quantitative estimation of estrogens in the small quantities present in human urine has opened the way for improvements in the procedures utilized for the extraction and separation of these compounds. A study of the partition coefficients of estrone, estradiol-178,’ and estriol in various solvent systems has been of great value in the development of a simplified extraction procedure. Counter-current distribution of the purified extracts has been found useful for the separation of the three estrogens, for their quantitative estimation, and for the evaluation of the specificity of the extraction procedure.

An Effective Iterative Algorithm for Modeling of Multicomponent Gas Separation in a Countercurrent Membrane Permeator
A model is developed for separation of multicomponent gas mixtures in a countercurrent hollow fiber membrane module. While the modelâs solution in countercurrent module usually involves in a time consuming iterative procedure, a proper initial guess is proposed for beginning the calculation and a simple procedure is introduced for correcting the guesses, hereby the CPU time is decreased ess...
متن کاملAsymptotic Analysis of Binary Gas Mixture Separation by Nanometric Tubular Ceramic Membranes: Cocurrent and Countercurrent Flow Patterns
Analytical gas-permeation models for predicting the separation process across membranes (exit compositions and area requirement) constitutes an important and necessary step in understanding the overall performance of membrane modules. But, the exact (numerical) solution methods suffer from the complexity of the solution. Therefore, solutions of nonlinear ordinary differential equations th...
متن کاملFractionation of Yeast Amino Acid-Acceptor Ribonucleic Acids by Countercurrent Distribution*?
Considerable interest has developed in recent years in the separation of the amino acid-specific “soluble’‘-fraction ribonucleic acids because of the probable role of these RNAs in protein biosynthesis (l-5) and because the elucidation of the structures of the different amino acid-specific RNAs may lead to an understanding of the mechanism of information transfer by nucleic acids. Preliminary s...

متن کاملSimulation of a membrane air separation unit using industrial process simulators
Nowadays, membrane processes are widely used for high purity Nitrogen production. Separation of air by membranes is a flexible process in which the investment and operational costs are lower than for example adsorption or cryogenic processes. Such processes are based on relative permeability of air components which are transported by the pressure difference between two sides of the membrane. M...
